Hello to the most weather inappropriate outfit! I know that autumn is well and truly here in the UK but I still wanted to share what I wore in Seattle back at the end of August because I love just these photos. Plus I thought it might give those of you who are off on a late summer holiday (super jel!) some last summer outfit inspiration! From last week’s outfit post where I shared the reasons why I love vintage clothing to a look that actually doesn’t feature any vintage at all, which is quite a rarity here on Fashion Et Moi! However, sometimes when I travel, I don’t like to bring my best and rarest vintage pieces in case they are spoiled by sweat, food stains or sitting around on the grass.
I have had this adorable red heart print wrap skirt by Motel Rocks for over a year now but due to its loose nature, I’ve often struggled with how to style it, until now. A little trend I noticed emerging over the summer was wearing oversized tees tied up around the waist, allowing both the top and bottom of an outfit to be loose without compromising on shape. The tying of the t-shirt emphasizes the waist – which I always benefit from – so it was the perfect way of finally being able to wear this skirt. My white t-shirt here is just a cheap and cheerful one from the H&M men’s section. I went for a size medium so it wasn’t too fitted and I love how it looks.
I finished off the look with my favourite Ray Ban round metal sunglasses and a brand new pair of Converse. Is it just me or does anyone else find immense joy in a new pair of Converse? Of course, I absolutely love the look of knackered Converse but having bright white soles and deep black canvas is such a novelty (and one that doesn’t last long at that) after two years of running my last pair into the ground.
This outfit was just perfect for city exploration in hot temperatures as it was super comfy and light. This is what I wore in Seattle on our first day when we headed to the famous Pike Place Market for a wander and some food. I just had to shoot in front of the iconic ‘Public Market’ sign as its red colour matched my skirt and lips perfectly. So that’s it – the last summer outfit of the year and I’m so excited to start sharing autumnal looks from next week. Stay tuned for my mammoth Seattle City Guide coming later this week – it’s going to be a good’un! X
