Today we went for a walk in the Bois de Boulogne in the sun. It is rare to see me in jeans even though each winter I promise myself I will wear them more. I really like this outfit, which includes a rather French looking top from my most recent daily haul from my shop. I really need to stop shopping whilst I work.

Aujourd’hui on a baladé dans le Bois de Boulogne en plein soleil. Il est rare que je porte des jeans, même si je me promets chaque hiver que je les porterai plus. J’aime bien ce look, qui inclut un haut du style français que j’ai acheté dans ma prise quotidienne le plus récente de mon magasin. Il faut que j’arrête de faire du shopping pendant que je travaille.

This is what I wore last night to see the fab band, Phoenix. I love these gold Superga trainers as they are great to wear to gigs or on a night out if you want to be comfy but still look bling (yes I did just say ‘bling’, haha). In fact, the standing area at the gig was full when we got there – who knew that you had to get there early enough to get a standing wristband? Not me and before the gig started I felt annoyed to be stuck in seated. It was actually great, we had a really good view and everyone around us was dancing anyway. I’ve been looking for a skirt like this for ages so was thrilled when I saw it in the shop where I work and the fact that it’s actually culottes makes it even better.

Voilà le look que j’ai porté hier soir pour aller voir le groupe super, Phoenix ! J’aime bien ces baskets dorés de Superga car ils sont parfaits pour porter aux concerts ou faire la fête quand on veut être confortable mais classe. En fait, le zone debout était plein quand on est arrivé – personne ne nous a dit qu’il faut arriver si tôt pour avoir un bracelet pour être debout ! Alors on était assis et avant que le concert ait commencé cela m’embêtait. En fait, c’était génial ! On avait une vue super et tout le monde dansait comme même. Je cherche une jupe comme cela depuis longtemps donc j’étais trop contente de la trouver dans le magasin où je bosse. Le fait qu’elle est une jupe-culotte est beaucoup mieux !
The sun finally came out in Paris on Sunday, which was perfect because my mum was visiting. We had a lovely day so I thought I would do a post on what to do in Paris on a Sunday.
Go for a morning stroll – It doesn’t necessarily matter where as long as the sun is shining. From my flat in the third arrondissement, we walked up to République and along to Canal Saint Martin where we stopped at Chez Prune for a hot drink. Then we wandered along the Canal, watched a boat pass through the various locks and just generally soaked up the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Canal Saint Martin is great because it is not swarming with tourists. Other great places for a morning stroll include: Montmartre, the Marais, Ile Saint Louis and anywhere along the Seine. S’il y a du soleil, une balade du matin à Paris est magnifique n’importe où ! On a promené de chez moi dans le troisième à République et Canal Saint Martin où on a pris une boisson chaude à Chez Prune. Puis on a marché le long du Canal, regardé pendant qu’un bateau passe par des écluses et apprécié le beau quartier tranquille. Le Canal Saint Martin est génial parce qu’il ne grouille pas de touristes. D’autres quartiers supers pour une balade du matin inclus : Montmartre, Le Marais, Ile Saint Louis et n’importe où à côté de la Seine.
Eat brunch – This means something quite different to what it does in England. In France brunch is a multi-course meal starting with breakfast type foods, then lunch and dessert. On this Sunday we actually went for an untraditional brunch at bio cantine Soya. It was a vegetarian buffet consisting of salads, falafel, hummus, lasagne, rice and curries followed by mini cakes and brownies. Of course I ate too much and was so excited about the food that I forgot to take any photos until after I had eaten!
Le brunch en France est assez différent que le brunch en Angleterre. En France, le brunch consiste de plusieurs plats : on commence avec le petit déjeuner, puis on mange le déjeuner et le dessert. En fait, ce dimanche on est allé pour un brunch peu conventionnel à une cantine bio qui s’appelle Soya. C’était un buffet végétarien qui consistait des salades, du fallafel, d’houmous, de la lasagne, du riz et des curries et il y avait des minis gâteaux et brownies pour dessert. Bien sûr, j’ai trop mangé et j’étais si impatiente de manger que j’ai oublié de prendre des photos jusqu’après j’avais déjà mangé !
Visit a museum – A great activity for any Sunday but especially on the first Sunday of the month when many museums are free. As it was such a lovely day, we went to the Arc de Triomphe, which is the best vantage point in Paris in my opinion. From there we wandered down the Champs-Elysées and headed for the Panthéon to make the most of the free museums Sunday. Une activité parfaite pour un dimanche, surtout le premier dimanche du mois quand l’entrée dans beaucoup de musées est gratuite. Car il faisait si beau, on est allé à l’Arc de Triomphe, qui offre le meilleur vu de Paris pour moi. Ensuite, on a promené sur l’Avenue des Champs-Elysées avant d’aller à Panthéon pour bien profiter des musées gratuits.
Enjoy a city park – Paris is absolutely full of amazing parks. We strolled through the Jardin des Tuileries where you could really tell that Sunday in Paris is family day. Other great parks include Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes and my personal favourite, Parc des Buttes Chaumont. If you fancy getting out of Paris, there is also Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne on the east and west edges of the city respectively, which are lovely for a Sunday walk. Paris est une ville plein des parcs incroyable. On s’est baladé dans le Jardin des Tuileries où on pourrait vraiment voir qu’à Paris, le dimanche est réservé à la famille. Le Jardin du Luxembourg, le Jardin des Pantes et le Parc des Buttes Chaumont (mon parc favoris) sont d’autres parcs géniaux ! De plus, si on voudrait sortir des murs de Paris, le Bois de Vincennes et le Bois de Boulogne sont magnifiques pour une balade de dimanche.
I haven’t done an outfit post for ages so here we go! I’ve had this dress for years as I bought it when I was last living in Paris during my degree but I think it’s pretty timeless: spots never go out of fashion. I’ve paired this dress with my American Apparel disco leggings, which makes for a very comfortable outfit. Cela fait un moment que je n’ai pas fait un exemple du look, alors voilà ! J’ai cette robe depuis longtemps car je l’ai achetée quand j’habitais à Paris la dernière fois, pendant que je faisais ma licence. Je crois qu’elle est intemporelle : les pois ne se démodent jamais. Je porte mes leggings discos d’American Apparel avec cette robe pour un look très confortable ! Paris is the best city for vintage shopping that I’ve ever been to. This is not because of the sheer volume of vintage shops in the French capital – as London probably boasts just as many – no, it is the cheap prices that you just do not find anywhere else.
Kilo Shop – 69-71 rue de la Verrerie
There are several Kilo Shops around Paris and I work for the first and the biggest one on rue de la Verrerie in the Marais. The concept is that you buy clothes by weight. Each item has a certain colour tag which corresponds to a different price per kilo, for example: red is 20€/kg, greenand yellow are 30€/kg and orange is 60€/kg. This means you can get some absolute bargains! It also means, especially with the orange tag, that some items can be expensive. There are also fixed price items such as fur coats which start at €89, bags and accessories and the renewal vintage range called ‘Culture Vintage’. There is loads of choice and it is a great shop! I’m not just biased, honest!
Il y a plusieurs Kilo Shop dans Paris et je bosse pour son premier magasin, qui est aussi le plus grand, sur rue de la Verrerie dans le Marais. Le concept est qu’on achètedes vêtements au poids. Chaque article porte une pastille et sa couleur corresponde à un prix diffèrent au kilo, par exemple : rouge est 20€/kg,vert et jaune est 30€/kg et orange est 60€/kg. Alors, on peut trouver des affaires absolues ! Mais aussi, particulièrement avec le bip orange, certains articles sont chers. Il y a aussi des pièces aux prix fixes, comme des fourrures, des sacs à mains et accessoires et notre collection ‘CultureVintage’. Il y a plein de choix et il est un magasin génial ! Coiffeur/Vintage Désir – 32 rue des Rosiers
The smallest and probably the most famous vintage shop inParis. Situated on the bustling rue des Rosiers (also known for its collectionof falafel restaurants), this shop is just fab. All year round there is a great selection of dresses, patterned jumpers, denim shirts, dungarees, shorts, skirts and bags. There is a good men’s section too. I would say that most things don’t cost more than €10 unless you are buying a jacket but even then you’ll be getting a bargain. If you can, go during the week because this tiny shop gets very busy at the weekend.
Il est le plus petit et sûrement le plus connu magasin de vintage dans Paris. Situé sur une rue animée – rue des Rosiers, qui on connaît pour tous les restaurants de falafel, ce magasin est juste génial ! Toute l’année, il y a une sélection superdes robes, pulls à motifs, chemises de jean, salopettes, shorts, jupes et sacs à main. Il y a aussi une bonne partie pour hommes. Pour moi, la plupart desarticles ne coûte plus que 10€, sauf on achète une veste qui aurait aussi une affaire ! S’il est possible, allez pendant la semaine parce qu’il y a toujours plein de monde au weekend.
Free ‘P’ Star – 61 rue de la Verrerie
I always say it is all part of the joy of vintage shoppingto rummage for real gems amongst pile of rubbish and this is one of the main draws of Free ‘P’ Star and its 1€ bins. They also sell a selection of leather and denim shorts for €10 a piece and faux and real fur coats with prices ranging from €10 to €100 or more. Free ‘P’ Star has three shops in the Marais, each within about five minutes walk from each other.
La joie de faire du shopping dans les friperies vient de fouiller dans les grands tas de vêtements pour trouver des vrais bijoux, je dis toujours. Cela est une des attractions de Free ‘P’ Star et ses paniers de 1€ ! On vend aussi une sélection de shorts en cuir et en jean pour 10€ à l’unité et des manteaux en fourrure vraie et fausse pour les prix entre 10€ et 100€ ou plus. Hippy Market is part of the same group as Kilo Shop so it sells the same great range of clothes but everything is more expensive.So, if you are looking for good quality and well-presented vintage, shop either here or Kilo Shop!

The King of Frip – 33 rue du Roi de Sicile
A rather hit and miss shop to be honest. I have found some real bargains in The King of Frip over the years but recently some of their prices seem to have shot up. Coats, furs and dresses are quite expensive but you can still find denim shorts, shirts and bags for about €10, which is pretty cheap.
Un magasin imprévisible si je suis honnête. Dans le passé j’ai trouvé plein d’affaires chez The King of Frip mais récemment, quelques prix ont augmenté. Les manteaux, les fourrures et les robes sont assez chers mais on peut toujours trouver des shorts en jean, des chemises et des sacs à main pour vers 10€, qui est plutôt bon marché.
