I Love Bristol | Flour And Ash Restaurant Review

Flour and Ash pizza restaurant review Bristol

Flour and Ash pizza restaurant review Bristol
Flour And Ash, a pizza and ice cream restaurant ideally situated where Bristol’s famous Gloucester Road meets Cheltenham Road, is a firm family favourite of ours so I just knew that this had to be the next stop on my culinary tour of Bristol. In fact, we like it so much that since I took the first batch of photos for this blog restaurant review, I have been again! I tried a different (and much better pizza) the second time this month so I am going to talk about both experiences in this one post.

Just by looking at the menu, you can tell that this is no ordinary pizza restaurant. Flour And Ash certainly experiment with their pizza toppings and as their menu changes regularly, there will never be a lack new flavour combinations. On my first trip to Flour And Ash this month, I went for the Marinated Aubergine, with mozzarella, basil and ricotta, which admittedly is not the most adventurous choice but I just love ricotta on pizza.

The pizza as a whole, was delicious. Flour And Ash pizzas unusually have a sourdough base, which makes the dough super spongey and light and the whole pizza experience just quite different. Due to my personal taste of not liking vinegar, I was a bit disappointed with my choice of Marinated Aubergine. I know, I should have asked the waiter what the aubergine was marinated in so that is my fault and not a reflection on the pizza itself. If you love vinegar and aubergine then this pizza is for you! Luckily the ricotta was lovely and creamy so that made up for it.

Round two at Flour And Ash was the highly rated taste experience that I had been yearning for, made all the more lovely by the company of two of my favourite girls. This time I got what my sister had ordered on our previous visit – Severn Project Kale, with buffalo mozzarella, garlic semi-dried tomatoes, ewe’s curd and extra tomato sauce (because a pizza really is not right without it). I was extremely impressed with this pizza. The chewy and bitter kale was the perfect contrast to the creamy ewe’s curd and sweet tomatoes and I would definitely order this again!

Finally, you simply cannot go to Flour And Ash without sampling one of their divine homemade ice creams. Once again, the selection does change and the flavours vary from classics such as chocolate or rum and raisin to bizarre combinations such as lavender and honey or basil! After my disappointing Marinated Aubergine pizza, I played it safe and ordered chocolate. Flour And Ash chocolate ice cream is certainly no ordinary chocolate ice cream – it is indescribably on par with the best chocolate ice cream I have ever had (the other one being at The Lido Restaurant in Bristol). As a big golden syrup fan, I just had to try their ice cream in this flavour that my mum had ordered. While feeling refreshing, you could also taste the thickness and smoothness of the golden syrup come through the ice cream – it was just excellent!
I would certainly recommend Flour And Ash if you fancy a good old fashioned pizza and ice cream binge. There is something for everyone – a simple margarita pizza and chocolate ice for you play-it-safes (Lewis I’m looking at you) or some unusual taste combinations for those of you that like to be taken out of your comfort zones.
If you would like to got to Flour And Ash, call ahead because it gets booked up quickly, even during the week!

You may or may not have noticed that, despite being a trend popular with many bloggers and high street brands, I have not yet “got my shoulders out” (if that can be such a saying) this season. Of course it is fine not to follow a trend, however I genuinely love the off the shoulder trend but thanks (or not) to my slightly round shoulders, it just does not suit me. Whenever I have tried on bardot-style tops, I get self-conscious that my shoulders look just enormous from the side.
Enter this amazing cold shoulder floral dress that I found in the Zara sale (for just £13!) and I have found a way to tap into the trend. The high neckline and the floaty sleeves mean that you don’t see a big chunk of shoulder, just a cheeky peak, which works perfectly for my body shape. Better still, this dress adds a much needed update to the floral section of my wardrobe – I mean, just look at all those different prints together! As the dress pretty much speaks for itself, I kept the accessorising simple with a sixties baker boy hat, red lippie and my usual black chelsea boots (yep, sassy non-black boots are on my ‘to buy’ list, don’t worry).
Are there any trends that you wish you could wear but feel self-conscious in? What are your tips for tapping into tricky trends?

The Comfiest Bra I Have Ever Owned By Oysho

Bra – OYSHO, Briefs – OYSHO

Every girl reading this would agree, I’m sure, that boobs and what contains them – bras – are pretty damn important. Boobs can be the source stress, insecurity, pain but also freedom and pleasure depending on your attitude towards your own pair. A few years ago, I was obsessed with having larger boobs than I actually did – even though they were definitely bigger than they are now – and I would wear extremely padded push-up bras to boost my bust. However, since losing weight whilst living in Paris, I am finally happy with my moderately sized set and I have fully embraced being able to wear bras without under-wiring or padding.

Triangle bras and bralettes are already more comfy than most bras, although I find that they can rise up because they have less structure to them, but this recent purchase from Oysho took comfort to a whole new level. After years and years of tugging at bras and readjusting them, it is an absolute joy to find a bra that sits perfectly on my body and hardly even feels like it is there. Of course it is just a bonus that this wonderfully comfy bra is this pretty. I normally buy black bras (and yes they do this bra in black too, I’ve checked) but I was completely drawn to this lovely blush pink one with cream lace detailing.

How has your boob and bra journey been? Have you finally accepted your pair? Have you found your perfect bra? I would love to hear any tips!

Location: Redland, Bristol
There are some days when I look at my wardrobe and I just feel so uninspired, that I just want to sell everything and start again and that I literally have nothing to wear. When such a day occurs, I find that it is a good idea to go back to basics, not try anything fancy and just wear something that comes naturally.
Well that is the advice that I followed yesterday when, after having stared at my wardrobe for hours and having changed countless times, Lewis’ (and my) patience had run out and I threw on his faded The Strokes t-shirt, black skinny jeans, Converse and a leather jacket. To spice up the look a bit, I added my failsafe choker and Ray Ban round sunglasses.
I am actually loving this look and it is all thanks to borrowing Lewis’ band tee. Even if an item is not new itself, if it is new on me then I feel great and as if my style has been given a new lease of life. Although I did not start writing this post to promote my new DEPOP SHOP but it actually seems a pretty fitting time to mention it.

Last week I added lots of secondhand and nearly new high street pieces to my DEPOP @isabellehardy. So please go and have a look, find that new piece you have been looking for, buy my shit so I can buy more shit and hence get my styling mojo back. Thanks a bunch.

P.S. You will see below that I have two different backgrounds for the English and French parts of this post. Let me know if you like this or prefer consistency throughout. Merci!

Merci!)

YouTube: Ray Ban Sunglasses Review Round Vs Wayfarer

Happy Sunday everybody! Today over on my YouTube, I’m back for another good old chatty sit down video discussing two pairs of iconic sunglasses – Ray Ban Round and Ray Ban Wayfarer. I talk about their durability, versatility, comfort and, of course, style. So if you are thinking about investing in some Ray Ban sunglasses (which I definitely think you should!), go and have a watch!
