YouTube: Behind The Scenes Of Blogger Outfit Shoots

Hello there huns! After a mini YouTube hiatus, today I’m back with a video that is a little different – a behind the scenes look at fashion blogger outfit shoots. Recently, ANNA one of my best friends was visiting from Paris and as she is also a blogger, we decided to take a whole day to shoot a few looks each and I vlogged it. I really like this video because it is a mix of a haul, a lookbook and a general vlog all in a short and sweet video of 4 minutes and 19 seconds. I absolutely loved creating this video with ANNA and I hope you like it too!

Happy Sunday!

My Fashion Photography And Blogger Love

Isabelle Hardy fashion blogger photography
Today’s post is all about introducing you to two things – my fashion photography and my best friend and blogger, ANNA. You will all be used to seeing me in front of the camera, not behind it, so what’s going on?
I have always been passionate about photography and I even studied it at A level for which I did projects such as fashion and live music photography. The imagery on this blog is just as important for me as what I actually write so when posing for outfit photographs, I am quite a hands on and talkative model because I often already have an image in my head of how I want the photos to look.
When Anna started her fabulous blog PRETTY GIRLS MAKES GRAVES about a year ago now, we started taking photos of each other on our lunch break (we worked together in Paris). It is super fun to collaborate with a fellow blogger, understand their vision and produce some amazing content together. So, when Anna came to visit recently, we took a whole day to shoot loads of outfits and I realised that I had really missed being the photographer. Anna’s style is really quirky and fun so it important to get that across in the photos, which I hope I have.
So here are just some of the photos that I took of gorgeous Anna – I hope you like them! I miss girly photoshoot days so if you are interested in collaborating (for free!), please get in touch. FYI, there’ll be a blogger behind the scenes video of our photoshoot day up on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL on Sunday!

I have previously written about PYJAMA STYLE and my love for this season’s comfiest trend. However, today is all about this seventies pyjama style shirt, rather than loose fitting, patterned trousers, which the trend generally focuses on. I picked up the shirt in a charity shop for just £3 and I knew instantly that its slouchy shape and bold print would be the perfect ‘throw-on’ piece with some simple skinny jeans and boots. Next I just needed some accessories to finish off the look and I was good to go.
Recently, I have been getting more and more into accessories – I rarely leave the house without some form of neckwear, especially when the neckline is low or the collar is open and today I’m wearing a simple skinny scarf tucked down into the shirt. So, with neckwear sussed and having finally purchased these Ray Ban Round sunglasses that I keep banging on about, it is time to up my earring game.

On shoot day for this outfit, I was in Primark so I took the opportunity to pick up some super cheap gold hoops that I had been craving for a while. Wearing big hoops again makes me nostalgic for my mid-teenage years, pre carefully thought out fashion choices, and my first festival fashion attempts. Of course, gold hoops can be tricky to wear well but I thought that these would be the perfect boho accessory for this seventies style pyjama shirt – and I was right.

The gold hoops, round sunglasses and skinny scarf match the shirt’s colours perfectly and really bring the shirt into its own. The fact that this outfit requires minimal effort but is suitable for casual daywear, dinner or a night out means that it is a total winner in my eyes.

Are you reverting to any nostalgic pieces this season? Or are you firmly sticking with new fashion choices?

Look, it’s another one of those pastel coloured, frilly Zara tops! I am sure you are sick of seeing these kind of tops everywhere but when I popped in recently to check out their huge sale (where I also picked up this amazing COLD SHOULDER DRESS), I just could not help myself.

As those massive frilled sleeves really just speak for themselves, I kept the styling pretty simple with a button down denim skirt, frilly socks whose colour matches the pastel blue of the top and my Dr Martens. I think that this top will be a great transitional piece into autumn with some tailored trousers or jeans, depending on the occasion.

So apparently I am already thinking about autumn when it’s only July! Perhaps that is due to my summer starting earlier than usual (April) because I was in Barcelona and now in England I am fed up with this weather that taunts us with 33 degrees one day and a colder, breezy day the next. Come on England, sort it out!

Regardez!

You may or may not have noticed that, despite being a trend popular with many bloggers and high street brands, I have not yet “got my shoulders out” (if that can be such a saying) this season. Of course it is fine not to follow a trend, however I genuinely love the off the shoulder trend but thanks (or not) to my slightly round shoulders, it just does not suit me. Whenever I have tried on bardot-style tops, I get self-conscious that my shoulders look just enormous from the side.
Enter this amazing cold shoulder floral dress that I found in the Zara sale (for just £13!) and I have found a way to tap into the trend. The high neckline and the floaty sleeves mean that you don’t see a big chunk of shoulder, just a cheeky peak, which works perfectly for my body shape. Better still, this dress adds a much needed update to the floral section of my wardrobe – I mean, just look at all those different prints together! As the dress pretty much speaks for itself, I kept the accessorising simple with a sixties baker boy hat, red lippie and my usual black chelsea boots (yep, sassy non-black boots are on my ‘to buy’ list, don’t worry).
Are there any trends that you wish you could wear but feel self-conscious in? What are your tips for tapping into tricky trends?
