This is what I wore on a day trip last week up to Quebec City. As we are leaving Canada in less than two weeks (sobbbb), we are desperately trying to fit in everything that we still want to do. As you read this we are currently in Seattle visiting my uncle before heading up to Vancouver on Sunday for a few days and I am definitely planning on doing some city guides and outfit posts when I return. One thing we had to do before we left was visit the province’s capital and even though we could only fit in a day trip to Quebec City, I think we got a good feel for the place and saw some different areas.

As we were only there for a few hours, I don’t have a city guide for as such but I did manage to shoot this outfit, which is the perfect day trip outfit. It was super comfortable for long car journeys each way to Quebec City yet put together for exploring a city. These red Nike Cortez have rapidly become my go-to trainers whenever I know I am going to do a lot of walking. They are incredibly comfortable and add a nice pop of colour to any outfit. I was not sure what the weather was going to be doing that day so I opted for an outfit that could work for both a hot summer’s day or a cooler one. I paired my trusty Zara blue cropped dungarees with this super cropped broderie anglaise blouse, which is really to short to wear with anything else. I love this combination and I think the vintage vibe goes perfectly with the trainers. It ended up being quite cold at times so I also wore my black leather jacket for a bit of warmth.

These photos were shot in an area called Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a residential area that we walked through when going from the pretty but extremely touristy Old Town to the more edgy Saint Roch neighbourhood. I loved all the cute colourful houses, which made a perfect backdrop for a spontaneous outfit shoot. If you are planning a day trip or a even weekend visit to Quebec City, I would definitely recommend exploring outside the old city walls. I tend to feel a bit claustrophobic if I’m in a super touristy area for too long, especially when there is so much else to explore! Take a stroll down Rue Saint Jean and then wiggle your way down to Saint-Roch where there are lots of shops, cafés and even a huge church on Rue Saint-Joseph Est. Happy exploring! X
